Frequent sex helps spouses who suffer from neurosis, to achieve the same degree of family happiness, that of the ordinary young couples.
People who suffer from neurosis, experience more difficulties in relationships, they are more irritable, prone to frequent mood swings and anxiety. Severe neurosis is becoming a reason for divorce. However, scientists have found a way to help such couples.
The study involved 72 married couples who have been married from one to four years. On average during the first six months of marriage couples had regular sex once a week, and by the end of the fourth year — about three times a month.
Scientists have found that frequent closeness brought more satisfaction from family life to couples suffering from neuroses. The researchers explain this by the fact that sex eliminates the feeling of a deficit of happiness experienced by couples.
Frequent sex is one of the ways to maintain the level of happiness in people suffering from neuroses, the scientists believe.
The results of the study were published in Social Psychological and Personality Science journal.
